The Labor Party has edged closer in the polls, rising to 47%. While still trailing behind the Liberal Party – currently supported by 53% – the polls revealed the Prime Minister ahead of Tony Abbott as the preferred leader, with a boost over the summer period seeing Gillard reaching 48%, ahead of Abbot at 46%.

Conversations of the possibility Kevin Rudd will reprise his role as Prime Minister have been diverted to the current economy. Speaking in an interview on Channel Seven, the Prime Minister insisted she remains focused on giving everyone a fair chance, during a time where a two speed economy has seen the rising Australian Dollar affect so many Australian industries, in particular Australian Manufacturing.
