Starting from February 2016, apprentices will be trained by Renault Australia and the Kangan Institute at the brand new state-of-the-art Renault Academy in Mulgrave, Victoria.

Renault Australia will double the size of its Mulgrave headquarters and partner with Victorian TAFE, the Kangan Institute, to deliver the training over eight one-week blocks across three years at the Renault Academy.

The move will create 26 new jobs and see over 200 new automotive apprentices trained in Victoria over the next five years.

Minister for Industry, Lily D’Ambrosio welcomed the announcement.

“We’re working hard to grow our industries and create new jobs for Victorians. This move will create 26 jobs and provide more than 200 apprenticeships. Renault’s decision to move its apprentice training facility and headquarters from Sydney to Melbourne is a vote of confidence in our state’s economy,” the Minister said.

“More than 200 technicians will now be trained by Renault and Kangan over the next five years and those skills will set them up for careers as skilled automotive technicians. We’re working with TAFEs and industry to make sure Victorians get the skills they need to get the jobs they want,” added Minister for Skills and Training, Steve Herbert.

According to the announcement by Renault Australia, apprentices will receive the following:

  • Competency based training aligned to the Renault pathway
  • Embedded Renault product and brand training
  • Specific Renault systems training
  • Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology
  • Certificate II in Automotive Air-Conditioning Technology
  • Graduate with Advanced Renault Technician (ART) Qualifications
