The demise of Australia’s carmaking industry will be complete with a massive sale of machinery and equipment that had been used to manufacture cars in the country for the past six decades.

This unprecedented auto equipment sale – which follows the recent closure of all Toyota Australia manufacturing operations – will be led by Hilco Industrial Acquisitions and will include key production shops and vendors such as Toyota’s Altona plant; Toyoda Gosei Australia; Continental Pty Ltd.; Britax Childcare; Metalsa Australia; ROH Automotive; Toyota Boshoku Australia; Chassis Brakes International; and Denso Automotive Systems Australia.

Hilco said all the equipment will be offered for sale via private treaty from their production shops, with certain key machinery and equipment items – including maintenance workshops and general equipment – to be offered for sale via an online auction which will be conducted by Grays Online, Hilco’s JV partner.

The company’s CEO Robert Bouland said offers on all the major equipment can be made up until 3 October 2017, with negotiations and sales to begin immediately.

“There has never been a sale conducted of this magnitude with such an abundance of state of the art manufacturing equipment,” Mr Bouland remarked, adding that all the equipment offered in this massive sale is available for inspection by appointment only.

“While it is unfortunate to see the industry in Australia shut down operations, this sale presents a very significant opportunity for those seeking to acquire critical production equipment to augment their facilities.”

According to the company, inspection appointment can be made by contacting Ernst Rost Onnes at: erostonnes@hilcoglobal.com.
