Tourism leaders to get a taste of Tasmania’s best produce

Tourism operators from all over Australia will get a chance to sample some of Tasmania’s best produce during the Australian Tourism Awards ceremony happening this Friday night in Hobart.

Local produce that will be offered during the evening will include Cape Grim Beef; Petuna Ocean Trout; Hellyers Road Distillery Whiskey Cream; Frogmore Creek Wines; Holm Oak wines and Boag’s Beer.

Prior to the ceremony the participants will also be treated to a ‘mini-taste of Tasmania’ at an event at Princes Wharf No. 1.

The ‘mini-taste’ will consist of produce such as Willie Smith’s Organic Cider; Franks Cider; the Fudge A’Fare; Get Shucked Oysters; Grandvewe Cheese; and Miellerie Honey.

In an announcement, Parliament Secretary for Small Business Rebecca White said that the Tourism Awards ceremony is an exciting opportunity for local producers to gain greater exposure.

About a thousand people will be attending the Awards ceremony, with more than 700 of the guests heading to Hobart from interstate. They will have the opportunity to experience the very best of food and beverage from Tasmania during the course of the event.

“It’s an exciting chance to showcase our fine food and beverages and promote our high-quality product,” said Ms. White. “In addition to the local produce on offer, Tasmania is strongly represented in a number of the Australian Tourism Awards categories this year, and I wish all local nominees the best of luck ahead of Friday’s awards.”
