Siemens’s Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software business unit has been recognised by General Motors as one of its best global automotive suppliers at the automotive manufacturer’s 21st annual Supplier of the Year awards ceremony.
“The honor of receiving the GM Supplier of the Year award with such consistency is a tribute to our team’s dedication to customer success, and a direct result of our two companies’ close working relationship,” said Chuck Grindstaff, CEO and president, Siemens PLM Software.
“We are proud of our partnership with General Motors and look forward to the future as our software technology continues to help GM design, build, and sell the world’s best vehicles.”
General Motors recognized 83 of its global automotive suppliers in the event held on March 13 at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit.
The Supplier of the Year award is given to less than 1 percent of GM’s approximately 18,500 suppliers around the world, according to the General Motors website.
“Suppliers play a critical role in our business and we’re thrilled to recognize those we consider to be world-class,” said Grace Lieblein, GM vice president, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. “Each winning company consistently exceeded our expectations by being innovative, delivering high quality products and services on time and by creating outstanding value.”
Siemens was given recognition along with other suppliers that have shown excellence in delivering innovative technology, superior quality, prompt crisis management and competitive solutions.
According to Siemens PLM’s media release, this is the fifth time they have received the Supplier of the Year award, and the third time in the last four years.
“Siemens helped play a critical role in GM’s success in 2012 through their dedication and commitment to consistently exceed our expectations by being innovative, delivering high quality products and services on time and by creating outstanding value,” said Lieblein. “We are thrilled to recognize Siemens PLM Software, who we consider to be a world-class supplier.”
Siemens PLM provides an array of software products and services that helps General Motors with its entire product lifecycle process. These include NX™ software for computer-aided design, manufacturing and engineering analysis, Teamcenter® software for digital lifecycle management, and the Tecnomatix® portfolio for digital manufacturing automation and simulation, according to Siemens PLM.
A global team composed of exexcutives from various departments in General Motors such as purchasing, engineering, quality, manufacturing and logistics decide on the winners for the annual Supplier of the Year awards.
Of the 83 recipients, five are certified diverse suppliers and 46 are repeat winners from last year, says GM.
