National Manufacturing Week (NMW) returns to Sydney this May with a core focus on strengthening Australia’s $100 billion manufacturing sector. Event organiser Reed Exhibitions comments that the highly-rated manufacturing event will introduce new initiatives to build buyer-seller relationships while highlighting opportunities for Aussie manufacturers in changing global markets.
From 8 May to 11 May 2012, NMW 2012 will house a record 12 product zones, including two new zones: Sustainable Manufacturing and Metals & Composites. The Sustainable Manufacturing zone will focus on opportunities for reducing industry’s environmental footprint; while Metals & Composites presents new developments in industry’s quest to develop reliable, lightweight, easily moulded manufacturing materials.
NMW 2012 will also build on the success of the 2011 event, which attracted some 10,000 industry visitors in Melbourne. An independent survey showed that a large majority of attendees regarded NMW as “valuable”or “extremely valuable”, while 82% of those surveyed – who held purchasing power – indicated they were likely to buy something they had seen at the show.
Paul Baker, Exhibition Director for NMW 2012 says that NMW 2012 will be one of the largest and most comprehensive versions of the annual show, with a strong demand and 90% of available floorspace already allocated.
The show is being shaped around industry feedback, including from manufacturers who have expressed particular interest in IT, process improvement and other strategies for reducing risk and increasing their overall capacity, says Mr Baker.
“We intend that all visitors to NMW 2012 come away with new contacts and ideas for their businesses – so that NMW, as a whole, achieves its goal of being the event that strengthens Australia’s manufacturing sector,” Mr Baker adds.
NMW 2012 will coincide with renewed Government focus on building a bright future for the manufacturing sector , as the Federal Government’s Manufacturing Taskforce builds momentum and the NSW Government’s Manufacturing Industry Taskforce will refines a framework for helping government and industry capitalise on opportunities for the next 10 years.
“More than 90% of last year’s exhibitors indicated they are likely to participate in NMW 2012 – and more than 200 companies have already secured their space,” concludes Paul Baker.
“There’s a good chance that we’ll sell out of available space early in 2012, and so I suggest that anyone considering participating contact the NMW sales team to review the available options.”
NMW 2012 will be held at the Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park, the gateway to NSW’s manufacturing heartland of greater western Sydney, which houses more than 10,000 diverse manufacturing businesses and employs more than 110,000 people.
