More than two-thirds of Australians are pessimistic about the introduction of carbon tax, saying it will put jobs at risk and companies will move overseas as a result. A survey conducted by Touchpoint Research Australia – of 550 people across urban and regional Australia found that 70 per cent of respondents believe that introduction of carbon tax will put their jobs at risk. The survey also found 54% respondents didn’t believe carbon tax will make a difference to the global environment. “The public is saying to the government that the pursuit of carbon tax is a risky business and it is also a risk to the business,” ACCI chief executive Peter Anderson said.
