The manufacturing industry’s night of nights is taking place on the 14th of May at the waterside Peninsula, in Docklands with tickets now available for the event.

In line with National Manufacturing Week, the theme of this year’s awards is ‘Industrial Evolution’, highlighting the strength and diversity of manufacturing in Victoria, putting the spotlight on the people and businesses that are driving the industry into the future.

Running since 2001, the Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame Awards recognise the distinguished leaders of Victoria’s manufacturing sector – the companies and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to manufacturing excellence in Victoria.

The 2019 edition of the Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame Awards Gala Dinner will be hosted by Minister for Jobs, Innovation and Trade, the Hon Martin Pakula MP, who will be announcing this year’s winners on the night.

Mr Pakula said the event will serve as a platform which will allow businesses and individuals working in the sector to forge new relationships with manufacturing industry leaders.

“The gala dinner, with the theme of Industrial Evolution, is a great opportunity for businesses and individuals to connect with leaders across the manufacturing industry during National Manufacturing Week, 14 to 17 May,” the Minister said in a statement.

“The Victorian Government is committed to supporting growth in the manufacturing industry.”

The Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame Awards cover several categories, recognising small businesses(less than 20 employees), medium businesses (ranging from 20 to 200 employees), large businesses (with over 200 employees) as well as workforce skills and leadership in Industry 4.0.

This year’s edition will also feature two new award categories, ‘Leader in Innovative Product Development and Commercialisation’ and ‘Leader in Global Supply Chain Partnerships’.

There will also be an induction of a new business into the prestigious Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame.

Last year’s winners in the company awards category include Clayton-based Osteon Medical, which took out the 2018 Manufacturer of the Year (Small Business) award for its design and manufacture of dental and facial implant prosthetic products.

Melbourne-based Creature Technology was crowned the 2018 Award Winner in the Medium Business category for manufacturing the most lifelike giant-sized animatronic creatures in the world, whereas the Manufacturer of the Year – Large Business award went to Bosch Australia, which now employs more than 800 people in Victoria.

And last but not least, the event also recognises individuals with awards including the Honour Roll, Young Manufacturer of the Year as well as Woman Manufacturer of the Year.

The 2018 Individual award winners include David and Tony Ellul (Honour Roll – Service to Industry), who run Marand, a highly successful designer and manufacturer of aerospace, defence and rail tooling including machining and robotics.

The 2018 Young Manufacturer of the Year award was presented to  Vanessa Katsanevakis, founder and owner of Sussex Taps, the renowned manufacturer of beautifully crafted high-performance tap-ware, while  Vanessa Kearney from Viva Energy and Jill Walsh from Actco Pickering Metal Industries, took home the Woman Manufacturer of the Year award.
