Province’s HyEnergy project charges ahead

Province Resources continues to lay the groundwork for the development of its proposed HyEnergy zero carbon hydrogen project located in Western Australia’s Gascoyne region.

Taking advantage of Gascoyne’s climate and wind patterns, the project involves the construction of a commercial-scale wind and/or solar farm to produce hydrogen for supplying domestic and international markets.

Province is working closely with WA state government to secure Lead Agency Status to accelerate the project’s environmental and other permitting requirements through the various government departments.

The company has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Shire of Carnarvon to collaborate on a potential 12,311ha development site for the project, with heritage, ecological, environmental and geotechnical studies – which will form part of the Feasibility Studies – to commence shortly.

Additionally, Province and its project partner Total Eren have inked MoU with Australian energy company Global Energy Ventures (GEV) to undertake a feasibility study to evaluate the technical and commercial feasibility of exporting green hydrogen from the HyEnergy project.

According to Province, the study will provide the HyEnergy project partners with ‘sufficient confidence’ to warrant the selection of compressed hydrogen as the preferred export method in the next phase of project engineering.

CEO David Frances stated the HyEnergy partners were at the very forefront of the emerging green hydrogen industry.

“Over the past four months the Partners have been constantly working with Government at all levels and other stakeholders to set the framework within which this industry will develop into a key part of the Western Australian economy,” he continued.

“The HyEnergy Partners, as first movers on ASX in this space, are uniquely positioned to lead this industry as it moves from its current nascent position into a key part of the state’s economy.”
