Perth-based mining company CADDS Group has partnered with 3D printing pioneers Core Additive and Markforged in an effort to redefine the production of equipment in the mining industry.

The partnership aligns with CADDS Group’s ongoing commitment to adopt innovative solutions while contributing to a more sustainable future within the mining sector.

The collaboration will leverage Core Additive and Markforged’s industrial 3D additive manufacturing capabilities to enable CADDS to guide clients through the optimisation process for 3D printing solutions.

CADDS will also be able to gain the flexibility to bypass many supply chain limitations and availability issues plaguing the industry with the capability to print on demand and in-house from their Perth office. This also positions the company to ensure continuity and quality consultancy support for clients, fostering a steady and reliable working environment and ultimately contributing to Western Australia’s local economy.

Markforged touts a unique Digital Forge ecosystem that enables printer networking and cloud connectivity, which makes remote operation, management, and monitoring from Pilbara sites viable.

Markforged industrial-grade 3D printers are also capable of printing parts and tools with high-yield strength and precision using advanced materials like continuous carbon fibre, stainless steel, copper, and tool steels.

The technology will enable CADDS to produce high-performance parts and componentry on-site, reducing lead times, minimising downtime, and improving overall operational efficiency.

The introduction of additive manufacturing to CADDS does not change the mining company’s business direction but rather complements and adds to the business’ established service offering.

“Diversification of services has always been a key focus in our business to ensure we continue providing relevant, efficient, high-quality support to our clients,” said Darren Clark, managing director at CADDS. “Additive manufacturing is another step in this journey, offering pertinent solutions to current industry challenges of lead times, availability, and standardised designs.”

“Together with Markforged, we can proactively enable our clients to take full advantage of additive manufacturing technology, where it benefits them,” Clark added.
