Newcrest subsidiary Cadia Holdings have chosen CIMIC Group’s CPB Contractors to deliver works for the Cadia Tailings Storage Facility Recommissioning Project.

The project, which will be completed in collaboration with Cadia Holdings, will help to support the operation of the Cadia gold and copper mine near Orange, New South Wales.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to apply our resources and expertise to Australia’s largest gold mining operation. CPB Contractors will work collaboratively with Newcrest to achieve the project’s business goals while also ensuring the community’s expectations regarding environmental performance and outcomes are met,” CIMIC Group Executive Chairman and CEO Juan Santamaria said.

CPB Contractors Managing Director Jason Spears said CPB Contractors would collaborate closely with Cadia Holdings to ensure that the project is completed on time and within budget and that all operational objectives are met.

Spears stated that CPB Contractors would prioritise safety and leverage their considerable area of project expertise to maximise prospects for cost-effective, efficient delivery.

According to CIMIC Group, the project enables works related to the existing Cadia tailings storage facilities and auxiliary works such as haul roads and supporting infrastructure.

Work is expected to be completed in 2023.
