Eurobodalla residents now have a more convenient way to recycle their drink containers with the opening of an upgraded Return and Earn machine in Moruya.
In a news release, Return and Earn said the new Moruya Ford Street Return and Earn machine, located at Lot 2, Ford Street in the council carpark, replaces the previous machine at the Woolworths carpark on Queen Street, which closed in August.
It is open daily from 7.00 am to 10.00 pm and is now the fifth return point in the Eurobodalla region.
James Dorney, CEO of TOMRA Cleanaway – the network operator for Return and Earn – said the local community continues to show strong support for recycling initiatives.
“Eurobodalla Shire Council residents are enthusiastic recyclers, having returned over 98 million eligible bottles, cans and cartons through local return points since the scheme began,” Dorney said.
The upgraded machine has a larger capacity and features the latest “takes-all” technology, allowing users to return all eligible containers – plastic, glass, and aluminium – through any of its four chutes without sorting.
Recyclers using the new Moruya machine can choose how to receive their 10-cent refund per eligible container. Options include printing a voucher redeemable for cash or a discount at Woolworths, or opting for a digital refund through the Return and Earn app via bank transfer or PayPal.
Residents can also choose to donate their refunds to one of more than 400 charity partners listed on the app.
Local partners include Yumaro, which provides employment and independent living opportunities for people with disabilities, and the Country Women’s Association Moruya, currently fundraising to sponsor a carer accommodation unit at the new Eurobodalla Hospital.
Alternatively, recyclers can support the current statewide donation partner, Guide Dogs NSW/ACT, which helps people with low vision and blindness build independence and confidence in their daily lives.
