Elon Musk’s SpaceX is hinting at a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Austin, Texas – expanding the $74 billion-worth aerospace company’s reach across the region.

In a job listing posted earlier today, SpaceX revealed that it will construct a new manufacturing facility for satellite equipment.

The space exploration company currently has two other facilities in Texas: the SpaceX SpaceX South Texas launch site (Boca Chica launch site) in Brownsville and the SpaceX Rocket Development and Test Facility in McGregor.

The Company’s Starlink Division aims to develop a low latency, broadband internet system that will provide internet to populations without access to reliable connectivity.

Overseeing the development of the global broadband system, Starlink is provisioning the help of engineers to design and develop control systems and software for production line machinery.

“To keep up with global demand, SpaceX is breaking ground on a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Austin, TX,” the listing reads.

“The Automation & Controls Engineer will play a key role as we strive to manufacture millions of consumer-facing devices that we ship directly to customers (Starlink dishes, Wi-Fi routers, mounting hardware, etc).”

Other responsibilities include spearheading facility, spearheading facility bring up and initial equipment conceptual development, writing PLC codes for high-volume manufacturing applications, and maintaining schedules and budget to ensure project completion.

SpaceX has also posted another job listing for an assembly and packaging equipment engineer in Austin.

The new listings will help SpaceX achieve its goal to ship consumer devices to over 25 countries by the end of 2021.
