Bounty Overproof Rum is part of the Fiji Rum Co spirit brands owned by Coca-Cola Amatil Fiji and Paradise Beverages, a Samoa-based alcohol beverage company.

According to the media release by Coca-Cola Amatil, the Bounty Rum won the Best Overproof Rum overall award, the Best Rum overall award (beating a field of 130 rum brands from all over the world), Best Aged White Spirit award, and the prestigious Double Gold Medal award, the highest honour for a brand at the event.

In addition, Bounty White Rum and Bounty Dark Rum won a silver medal and Bounty Spiced Rum a Bronze.

The San Francisco World Spirits Competition, widely considered to be the most respected spirits competition in the world, is the first comprehensive, international spirits judging ever held in the USA on an annual basis. The judging panel is consisted of top spirit professionals who judge the products in a blind, consensus procedure ensuring competitive integrity, which makes this competition the most highly regarded in the industry.

“This is an outstanding result for our small batch, handmade rum portfolio,” said Shane Richardson, CCA’s Director of Alcohol/Licensed.

“Our distillery in Fiji has been producing award winning rums since 1980 and winning these prestigious awards from the world’s most highly regarded spirits competition is testament to the belief we have always had in the outstanding quality of rum we are producing. We look forward to taking Bounty and the rest of the Fiji Rum Co portfolio to the world.”

Julian Train, Paradise Beverages Brand Manager said that there were a number of factors that contributed to the success of Bounty Rum.

“The first one is the water we use – Fijian water is regarded worldwide as extremely fresh and pure and is used to blend our rum products after barrelling. The soil our sugar cane grows in is highly volcanic and nutrient rich due to low erosion rates, and gives our base sugar a higher sugar and starch content which increases the quality of our base spirit. As well, we use a high proportion of pot still in our blend, giving a richer taste profile. Last but by no means least is our Master Blender, Liam Costello, who has more than 30 years of experience in producing world class rum,” Mr Train said.
