Advanced Navigation has raised AUD 158 million in a Series C funding round to accelerate manufacturing and deployment of its high-precision autonomous systems.
In a news release, Advanced Navigation said the investment underscores a growing national and global demand for alternative Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) technologies.
The round was led by Airtree Ventures, with participation from Quadrant Private Equity and the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation (NRFC), joining existing investors including Main Sequence, KKR, In-Q-Tel, Alpha Intelligence Capital, The Hon. Malcolm Turnbull AC, and OIF Ventures.
Chris Shaw, CEO and Co-founder of Advanced Navigation, said, “To power the next generation of autonomous systems, Advanced Navigation is combining deep learning software with high-precision hardware to help systems conquer the extremes across sea, land, air, and space.”
He added that the company’s approach has made it a trusted partner for major defence and technology firms including Anduril, NOAA, Hanwha, BHP, Rheinmetall, and Intuitive Machines.
The company plans to expand its manufacturing and engineering footprint across the U.S. and Europe, establishing PNT Centres of Excellence that will embed specialised engineering teams and strengthen national resilience.
“NRFC investment in Advanced Navigation will keep the company’s headquarters, core R&D, and high-precision manufacturing capabilities here in Australia, building our sovereign and defensive capabilities and paving the way for the navigational tools of the future,” said David Gall, CEO of NRFC.
Kelland Reilly, Partner at Airtree Ventures, added, “We are excited to partner with Chris and the team as they scale into the next chapter, bringing precise positioning solutions to mission-critical industries worldwide.”
Advanced Navigation’s technologies integrate inertial navigation systems with AI-driven sensor fusion, ensuring autonomous vehicles, aircraft, ships, and robotics can operate reliably even in GPS-denied environments.
According to Shaw, “The future belongs to intelligent systems that can sense, adapt, and navigate independently. We are building the resilient foundation for autonomy.”
With over 100,000 systems deployed globally, more than 80% of revenue currently comes from the U.S. and Europe. The Series C funding is expected to accelerate international manufacturing, strengthen supply chains, and support targeted technology acquisitions in robotics, photonics, AI, and quantum sensing.
Louis Casey, Partner at Quadrant Private Equity, said, “Advanced Navigation is at the forefront of autonomous systems for resilient navigation, pioneering solutions that redefine precision and reliability in defence and commercial applications.”
Barrenjoey acted as strategic financial advisor to Advanced Navigation on the transaction.
