The Australian Government has announced $6.9 million in funding to support manufacturing-focused innovation projects, including printed solar technology and a semiconductor packaging tool, under its Industry Growth Program.
In a media release, the government said the Industry Growth Program supports innovative and high-growth potential small and medium enterprises with advisory services and the opportunity for matched grant funding to help them commercialise their ideas and expand.
Projects are required to align with priority areas under the National Reconstruction Fund and contribute to strengthening Australia’s future manufacturing capability.
Among the latest recipients, Spark3D has been awarded $4.8 million to commercialise Achyon, a semiconductor packaging tool.
According to the government, the funding will support bringing the technology into production and preparing it for global markets. Semiconductors are used in devices including phones, laptops and cars.
Kardinia Energy has received $2.1 million to advance its printed solar technology from concept to market. The Government said the grant will assist the company to establish a pilot manufacturing facility.
Unlike traditional solar panels, the government noted that printed solar technology is flexible and designed to be easier to recycle.
The Industry Growth Program provides both advisory services and matched grant funding opportunities for eligible businesses seeking to innovate, scale up and bring products to market, the government said.
