6K Additive has announced a $1.1 million purchase order for its Nickel 718 superalloy powder, in a move that underscores growing manufacturing demand for high-performance materials in additive manufacturing applications.
In a media release, the ASX-listed company said the order came from a major original equipment manufacturer (OEM) with annual revenues exceeding $100 million, which selected the material for use in high-precision Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) processes.
The order will be recorded in 6K Additive’s first-quarter 2026 intake, with deliveries scheduled through September.
The company said the agreement adds to its backlog of nickel alloy powder orders, reflecting what it described as accelerating demand as additive manufacturing continues to shift toward production-scale use across aerospace, defence, and industrial sectors.
“Following a strong finish to 2025, orders like this reinforce the momentum we’re seeing across additive manufacturing,” said Frank Roberts.
“We see that demand for critical materials such as Nickel 718 and 625 continues to grow as OEMs move additive manufacturing into production.”
Roberts added that the order reflects customer confidence in the company’s manufacturing capabilities. “We believe that the expansion of this customer’s order demonstrates the confidence leading manufacturers have in the quality of our powders, the consistency of our process, and our ability to deliver reliable supply at scale,” he said.
Nickel 718 is widely used in additive manufacturing due to its strength, corrosion resistance, and ability to perform in extreme temperatures. It is commonly applied in sectors including aerospace, energy, oil and gas, automotive, and marine engineering, where components are exposed to demanding operating conditions.
6K Additive said that as additive manufacturing continues its transition into full-scale manufacturing, demand for production-grade metal powders is expected to increase.
The company positioned the latest order as further evidence of its role as a supplier supporting advanced manufacturing across multiple industries.
The company did not disclose the name of the customer, stating that doing so would not have a material effect on its securities, and confirmed that the announcement contains all relevant information for assessing the contract’s impact.
