Australian manufacturer Modulate has unveiled a new range of standardised portable buildings designed for rapid deployment, aimed at meeting urgent infrastructure needs across industries including mining, construction, government, defence, and utilities.

The new Express range features six and 12-metre rugged, cyclone-rated High-Cube container-based buildings with a design life of 25 years under heavy use, the company said in a news release.

According to Modulate, the new models retain the same high standards of occupational health and safety compliance, comfort, portability, and durability as the company’s custom-fabricated buildings already in use across diverse environments including deserts, cities, and the jungles of Papua New Guinea.

Modulate General Manager Jack Adams said the new line was developed in response to strong industry demand for high-quality, quickly deployable buildings without extensive customisation.

“The Express range was created in response to demand from industries with rapidly changing needs, where they did not require high levels of customisation, but delivery to site and set-up needed to be fast,” Adams said.

The prefabricated Express models are built entirely in-house at Modulate’s 20,000-square-metre facility in Mayfield, Newcastle.

The facility handles all stages of production – including assembly, fabrication, painting, and final fit-out – allowing for strict quality control and on-time delivery, according to the company.

“Because all Modulate containerised buildings are prefabricated in-house and delivered fully assembled, lead times, disruptions, and costs are significantly reduced,” Adams said.

The buildings are engineered for durability and ease of transport, featuring standardised twist-lock securing systems for safe relocation.

Modulate said the units are designed to withstand harsh transport conditions and can be easily loaded, unloaded, and installed on-site with minimal disruption.

Both the 6m and 12m Express Office variants include standard features such as aluminium-framed windows, air conditioning, vinyl plank flooring, batten lights, multiple power outlets, and external power access through a 15-amp caravan plug.

The insulation is made of 50mm expanded polystyrene (EPS) panels, and each unit is equipped with a switchboard and junction box.

Adams said the Express range supports customers that need to scale operations rapidly. “Whether it’s a remote mining site in need of a new lunchroom to accommodate more staff at short notice, or a construction site needing a new ablution block, these ready-to-go buildings are designed to get teams up and running without delay,” he said.

The company noted that its focus on quality, safety, and compliance has made it a preferred supplier for organisations seeking reliable infrastructure solutions without involving multiple contractors.

Modulate said it has attracted repeat interest from major industry players seeking a single-source supplier that can match their own high standards.

“These demanding industries move fast, and Modulate is ready to deliver the high quality portable building solutions to enable them to continue without delay,” Adams said.
