BioPak has announced it has acquired Queensland-based packaging company Bygreen, in a move the company says will further strengthen its portfolio of sustainable packaging solutions.

Bygreen, with more than three decades of operations in the industry, is recognised for producing Australia’s longest-lasting paper straw, the ‘Strong Straw’, and supplies products such as EcoStraws, One Tree Cutlery and Utensils, and Palm Leaf Tableware.

In a news release, BioPak said the acquisition brings a complementary product range, an established client base, and a shared commitment to reducing environmental impact through innovation.

“Bygreen has built a reputation for quality, integrity, and innovation, values that align closely with our own,” BioPak CEO Gary Smith said.

“This is a company that has been at the forefront of the sustainable packaging sector for more than three decades, and we are proud to build upon this legacy through our new partnership. Together, we will have an unmatched level of expertise, drive and passion to meet the growing demand for sustainable alternatives.”

BioPak said the partnership will allow Bygreen to accelerate its position in the Australian market and strengthen its international presence, while enabling BioPak to expand its reach and advance its goal of leading the industry in comprehensive, circular, and sustainable packaging solutions.

Bygreen CEO Mick Krause will remain in his role, working alongside the existing team and BioPak to grow both new and existing customer relationships.

“We’re proud of what we’ve built at Bygreen and excited to be joining forces with a company as purpose driven as BioPak,” Krause said.

“With the environment at the heart of everything we do, this partnership opens the door to new opportunities, greater impact, and long-term sustainability.”

Krause added that joining BioPak will support Bygreen’s growth ambitions and deepen its commitment to reducing plastic waste “one product at a time.”
