Cohesion Labels is commemorating a century of manufacturing in Australia, drawing on its history from a small typographic house in 1925 to a contemporary label production business, the company said in a video released to mark the milestone.

In “A Century of Cohesion,” a video published by the company, Cohesion Labels reflects on its evolution from Waters Typographic House into a modern label manufacturing enterprise serving a broad range of industries, including food, healthcare and industrial sectors.

The video outlines four generations of family ownership and the company’s ongoing investment in manufacturing technologies and people as central to its growth over the past 100 years.

According to the video, much has changed in label production since the business began, but the company’s stated core belief – that it should be easier for Australian businesses to do business – has remained constant.

Cohesion emphasises that its manufacturing operations have grown alongside changes in Australian industry and customer needs, adapting to new technologies while continuing to produce self-adhesive labels locally.

The video acknowledges the role of the people who have shaped the business and its culture across generations.

It positions the company’s heritage as integral to its identity and points to long-term partnerships with customers and suppliers as a foundation for its longevity.

In its media materials, Cohesion Labels said its modern manufacturing facilities and processes support responsive service and reliable delivery, enabling it to meet varied customer requirements and market conditions.

The company also highlighted its plans to look ahead to future developments in Australian manufacturing, as part of its next chapter.

Industry observers note that the broader Australian manufacturing sector faces pressures from global competition and cost considerations, but proponents of local production say on-shore manufacturing can offer quality control and supply-chain advantages.

Cohesion’s narrative in the video centres on its own adaptation and continuity as a producer within that environment, rather than offering independent analysis of economic conditions.
