According to the media release by the Premier of Victoria, CTIAV now has suitable premises to hold industry meetings and presentations. The new head office will also be a place where the Association can conduct training and education programs funded by the Victorian Coalition Government.

“The CTIAV represents an industry that generates about $1.4 billion a year for the Victorian economy, employs more than 5000 people across the state and creates significant flow-on benefits for tourism in regional Victoria. To put the caravan industry’s importance in a national context, Victoria currently manufactures more than 80 per cent of all caravans and motorhomes sold in Australia and about 85 per cent of all recreational vehicles,” said Minister for Manufacturing David Hodgett at yesterday’s opening ceremony.

The Minister further added that CTIAV is currently engaged in a joint project with the Victorian Coalition Government to develop an appropriate training framework for the development of skills, including management, strategic planning and manufacturing skills.

“This involvement demonstrates the Victorian Coalition Government’s commitment to supporting all stakeholders in the industry. It is why we provided $45,000 for the CTIAV to develop the Caravan and Camping Blueprint — a guide for the industry over the next five years that focuses on supporting manufacturers, retailers, suppliers, repairers and dealers in the industry,” he said.

“The Napthine Government’s overarching manufacturing industry strategy — A More Competitive Manufacturing Industry  contains a suite of programs to help drive productivity and innovation to create a high performance manufacturing culture. Many of the strategy’s aims for our manufacturing sector are already being realised in Victoria’s caravan industry which continues to go from strength to strength.”
