Building materials manufacturer DECO Australia has opened its new testing laboratory and innovation centre, which will showcase the company’s range of Australia-manufactured premium aluminium building products, protective coatings, and finishes.
The new facilities, accredited by the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA), were officially opened by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, along with DECO officials, the company announced.
Ross Doonan, DECO’s founder and director, expressed his gratitude to the prime minister for the official opening of the two facilities made to enhance the company’s commitment to quality and innovation.
“It is an honour to have the Hon Anthony Albanese MP here today to officially open the DECO Innovation Centre and our new NATA Accredited Testing Laboratory,” Doonan said.
He added, “These facilities are both extremely important investments for our business and ensures we can meet requirements from both our customers and accreditation authorities.”
According to DECO, the new testing laboratory, granted NATA accreditation last year, is fundamental to the manufacturer’s quality control, which includes several crucial testing and inspection procedures.
These internal processes guarantee adherence to certification standards like ISO 9001, ISO 17025, and Qualicoat, as well as to Process Control Plans, operating requirements, and inspection criteria that are particular to each customer.
“The new testing laboratory is not only essential for meeting accreditation criteria, it also supports our ongoing innovation, research and development as well as our day-to-day quality controls for our customers across the architectural, engineering, defence and aerospace industries,” explained Doonan.
The DECO Innovation Centre, which was completed in 2020 during the pandemic, was designed in collaboration with architectural firm ClarkeHopkinsClarke and has now become a must-visit destination for people looking for building inspiration in real-life applications, to explore DECO’s product range up close, and to select their perfect finishes and colours.
“The DECO Innovation Centre has been well received by our partners and customers; it’s been fantastic to see how it inspires people to bring their own design visions to life,” the CEO noted.
