DroneShield announced it has expanded its global manufacturing network by establishing a new counter-uncrewed aerial system (counter-UAS) manufacturing footprint in the European Union, a move the company says is aimed at strengthening sovereign capability and meeting rising demand across the region.

In a news release, DroneShield said the new manufacturing arrangement marks a significant step in the company’s European industrial expansion and manufacturing capacity, as governments across the continent increase defence investment under initiatives such as the ReArm Europe Plan / Readiness 2030.

Under the arrangement, DroneShield is collaborating with an established contract manufacturer in the EU, where production of European-made counter-UAS systems has begun. Deliveries from the facility are scheduled for mid-2026.

The contract manufacturer will undertake full turnkey assembly and component manufacturing, including printed circuit board assembly, precision machining, cable and wire harness assembly, and associated assembly and testing work.

DroneShield said the collaboration also involves building a primarily EU-based supply chain. The company noted that the facility represents its only current production line located outside Australia.

According to the company, the European manufacturing footprint is expected to strengthen its position in EU defence procurement programs, where requirements increasingly emphasise sovereign capability, regional production and resilient supply chains.

DroneShield chief executive Oleg Vornik said the company viewed the move as part of a broader shift in Europe’s approach to counter-UAS readiness.

“Europe is undergoing a profound shift in counter-UAS preparedness,” Vornik said in the statement.

“By establishing dedicated manufacturing in the EU, DroneShield is contributing to Europe’s sovereign capability while continuing to deliver rapidly and reliably for our European customers.”

He added that policy developments across Europe had underscored the importance of localised industrial capacity.

“The ReArm Europe Plan / Readiness 2030 initiative has highlighted the importance of localised, scalable production, and this new production line positions us to meet that demand,” Vornik said.

DroneShield said the EU manufacturing initiative forms part of a broader expansion of its global manufacturing capacity. The company plans to increase its combined annual production capacity from around $500 million in 2025 to an expected $2.4 billion by the end of 2026.

The company said the planned increase in manufacturing capacity is intended to support rising operational demand across Europe and other regions, as military, law enforcement and critical infrastructure operators continue to expand and modernise counter-UAS capabilities.

DroneShield said the expansion also reflects its focus on strengthening industrial bases and diversifying global supply chains as demand for counter-UAS systems grows internationally.
