DroneShield has announced it has surpassed 4,000 systems sold worldwide, following the receipt of two contracts worth a combined $7.9 million for handheld counter-drone systems from the US Department of Defence.

The Sydney-based defence technology company confirmed the equipment is expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2025, with payment also scheduled for that period.

In a news release, DroneShield said the latest contracts add to repeat orders from the customer and reinforce its position as a provider of mission-critical counter-drone solutions.

The company highlighted that more than 4,000 of its systems are now fielded globally across defence and civilian sectors.

“Passing 4,000 systems in service is an important milestone for our team and our customers,” said Matt McCrann, US CEO of DroneShield. “It underlines the performance and dependability of our solutions in the field, and the trust placed in DroneShield by those who rely on them.”

DroneShield noted that its handheld solutions are part of a broader portfolio that includes dismounted, vehicle-mounted, and fixed-site technologies.

The company said all products are supported by quarterly artificial intelligence-based firmware updates delivered through its secure portal.

According to DroneShield, the entire $7.9 million order will be fulfilled within 30 days from existing stock to meet urgent operational requirements. The company said quick delivery has been a significant factor in securing repeat contracts.

The milestone comes as DroneShield reported record half-year revenue of $72.3 million in the first half of 2025, an increase of 210 per cent compared with the same period in 2024.

Profit before tax for the June 2025 period was $5.2 million. The company added that recognised revenue for the third quarter of 2025 already stands at $77 million, with further deliveries expected before the end of September.

“As our customers seek to step up from their early small-scale evaluation purchases into full scale procurement, we are seeing rapidly rising customer demand,” said Oleg Vornik, CEO of DroneShield.

“Counter-drone is still at its nascency, with customers requiring very significant additional purchases to progress to the required levels of counter-drone defence. DroneShield is a well-regarded industry leader globally, and we expect to continue to benefit from this rising demand.”

DroneShield emphasised the role of manufacturing in reaching its 4,000-device milestone, particularly its RfPatrol handheld system. The company said more than 2,200 RfPatrols have been produced by an Australian contract manufacturing partner, with rigorous in-house quality testing.

The device has been supplied under several major programs, including a $61.6 million European contract, a $5 million order for the Australian Defence Force, and a $10.4 million package for Ukraine.

The RfPatrol is described as a lightweight, passive drone detection device that enhances situational awareness by alerting users to nearby drones in real time.

DroneShield said production of the device underscores its advanced manufacturing capabilities and the strength of its Australian supply chain, with about 85 per cent of components sourced locally across New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, and Western Australia.

DroneShield also confirmed that US and European-made versions of the RfPatrol will be available in those markets from 2026, with local manufacturing expected to support further sales growth.
