Electro Optic Systems Holdings Limited has secured an export order for its newly developed 100-kilowatt high-power laser weapon system, designed for counter-drone warfare.

The deal, worth approximately AUD 125 million (€71.4 million) and placed by a European NATO Member State, is reportedly the first known export of a 100-kilowatt class laser defence system globally, as revealed in an ASX announcement.

According to EOS, the system was developed in response to the growing strategic need for an effective and cost-efficient solution to combat drone swarm attacks.

The company stated that the laser-based system significantly expands its current suite of counter-drone technologies, which already features kinetic weapons and missile systems.

Under the agreement, EOS will be responsible for the production and delivery of the laser weapon system, including spare parts, training, and documentation, with fulfilment scheduled between 2025 and 2028 through its operations in Singapore.

The laser capability is the result of a three-year development program involving field testing and firing trials conducted in close collaboration with customers.

EOS said the system integrates radar, threat detection, target acquisition, and beam-locking technologies to ensure precise and reliable performance.

The company stated that the order follows extensive customer demonstrations and global marketing efforts.
