Robotic technology company FBR Limited announced that the next-generation Hadrian X construction robot has successfully completed its first outdoor test build in Perth, Western Australia.

In a news release, the ASX-listed company said the tablet-controlled new generation machine has a 32-metre telescoping boom and can handle blocks up to 600mm x 400mm x 300mm.

A new shuttle delivery system maximises speed and dependability and enables new blocklaying capability, according to FBR, who posted a video clip of the technology on YouTube.

“The modular architecture of the next-generation Hadrian X allows for quick change out of parts for continuous operation and customisation to project requirements,” FBR stated.

Additionally, FBR revealed that in place of mortar, a special construction adhesive is utilised, allowing for continuous construction and increasing the strength of the walls.

In May 2023, the next-generation Hadrian X robot set a lay speed record of nearly 300 blocks per hour utilising USA format cement masonry blocks.

According to an ASX release, the latest record greatly exceeds the highest-ever-recorded peak lay speed of the robot’s predecessor, the Hadrian 109.

Earlier this year, FBR signed an agreement with UK-based shareholder M&G Investment Management to purchase 277 million fully paid ordinary shares in FBR for a total of AUD 9.14 million for the production and commercial deployment of three more next-generation Hadrian X robots intended for accelerated use in the USA.

As part of the deal, three new Hadrian X robots will be constructed on USA truck bases and will then be immediately deployed to provide Wall as a Service via the current Fastbrick Americas LLC organisation.

Liebherr-Mischtechnik GmbH and FBR are working together to industrialise and commercialise Hadrian X, which has completed multiple building projects in Australia and across the globe.
