IperionX Limited has received USD 12.5 million in new funding from the US Department of Defence (DoD) to accelerate the scale-up of titanium manufacturing capacity in the United States, as part of its previously announced USD 47.1 million award to strengthen the Defence Industrial Base.

The company said the funds will be used to purchase long-lead, major capital equipment to expand titanium metal and component manufacturing at its Virginia Titanium Manufacturing Campus, with production capacity expected to surpass 1,000 metric tons per year.

IperionX stated the investment covers titanium deoxygenation, sintering and powder metallurgy consolidation systems, along with near-net-shape component manufacturing and infrastructure upgrades.

“This new U.S. Government obligation allows IperionX to move immediately to secure long-lead capital equipment and lock in manufacturing slots with key suppliers,” said IperionX CEO Anastasios (Taso) Arima.

“It accelerates our imminent Virginia expansion beyond 1,000 tpa of high-performance titanium manufactured products, and advances a fully integrated, low-cost and traceable American titanium supply chain for defense and commercial customers.”

The revised scope under the DoD’s Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment (IBAS) program reflects what IperionX described as the “strategic need” for greater domestic titanium metal and component manufacturing capacity.

Arima said the support highlights confidence in IperionX’s technology and expansion strategy. “We are executing a multi-phase modular scale-up in titanium production and manufacturing capacity – and this commitment from the DoD is a strong endorsement of our technology, our team, and our mission to reshore a resilient titanium production supply chain in the United States,” he said.

The latest allocation follows USD 5 million previously obligated to advance IperionX’s Titan Critical Minerals Project in Tennessee, now moving toward shovel-ready status with a feasibility study due in the first half of 2026.

IperionX said total funding obligations under the DoD award now stand at USD 17.5 million, with the remaining USD 29.6 million expected to be released over time to support additional titanium manufacturing capacity at its Virginia campus.
