Australian-owned plastics innovator A Plus Plastics launches Ocean Bound Plastics, an alternative to recycled plastic and virgin plastic.
Ocean Bound Plastics (OBP) is a program designed to remove plastic waste from the surroundings before they end up in waterways. The products’ composition is different from other recycled products in the market and is suitable for a wide range of applications.
“A major plus is that OBP can be certified food safe, unlike many recycled plastics, which means there is enormous scope to develop products for the food processing and service sectors,” A Plus Plastics General Manager Arto Taalikka said.
“Ocean Bound Plastic, on the other hand, includes a lot of clear plastics so that makes it much easier to colour.” he added.
Bunnings, a retailer of home improvement and outdoor living products in Australia and New Zealand, is the first to sign up for Ocean Bound Plastics products.
A Plus Plastics secured a deal that will provide various Ocean Bound Plastics products to almost 300 Bunnings stores. Bunnings committed to offering four tech bin products at its warehouse stores.
Arto stated that the demand for plastic products and the growing range of sustainable options creates a promising future for the industry.
“We’re excited to continue to work with customers, especially major supply chain players who can influence the whole market, to create not just products but programs that address business needs and develop the circular economy.” he said.
