The Queensland and Australian Governments have announced a joint investment of up to $600 million over the next three years to support Glencore’s Mount Isa Copper Smelter and Townsville Refinery, aiming to sustain regional manufacturing jobs and maintain Australia’s domestic minerals processing capability.

Nominations are now open for the 2026 Women in Manufacturing Apprentice Awards, an initiative by the Queensland Government to recognise and encourage women pursuing careers in the state’s manufacturing sector.

The Queensland Government is set to provide a boost to home-grown manufacturing and attract new business to the state with an expansion of the Made in Queensland program.
