A groundbreaking development in aerospace manufacturing is underway in Melbourne with the introduction of Australia's first multi-metal 3D printer as part of the iLAuNCH Trailblazer initiative, as revealed in a media release.

The latest iLAuNCH Trailblazer project is embarking on a groundbreaking initiative to utilise additive manufacturing technology in the development of large-scale carbon composite structures for rockets.

The iLAuNCH Trailblazer is vetting Space Machines Company’s Optimus OSV Spacecraft, the largest single Australian-made commercial space transport and servicing platform, before it heads into orbit in early 2024. 

Adelaide-based clean energy technology company entX is set to change the landscape of sustainable energy solutions that will power future space missions through a new partnership between iLAuNCH Trailblazer universities, the University of South Australia (UniSA) and the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ).

The University of Southen Queensland (UniSQ) is now home to the new Innovative Launch, Automation, Novel Materials, Communications and Hypersonics Trailblazer (iLAuNCH), a program aimed at transforming world-class Australian research into practical breakthroughs. 

The University of Southern Queensland has been named one of Australia's Trailblazer universities to accelerate growth in space manufacturing and lead a new research hub of national priority.
