The role of women shaping the future of energy and advanced manufacturing across the Asia-Pacific region was recognised this week as The Battery Show Asia honoured 16 industry leaders at its inaugural Women Leaders in Energy Awards.
Announced on March 10 in Hong Kong, the awards – organised by The Battery Show Asia – recognised women working across areas including battery technology, EV manufacturing, energy storage, materials innovation and clean energy infrastructure.
According to the event organisers, the initiative aims to highlight leaders driving innovation and industry transformation across the regional energy ecosystem.
Eight recipients were presented with the Energy Changemaker Award, recognising established leaders whose work is contributing to the ongoing energy transition. A further eight recipients received the Energy Rising Star Award, highlighting emerging innovators and future leaders in the sector.
“The awards spotlight the leaders driving breakthroughs in technology, sustainability and industry transformation,” The Battery Show Asia said in a statement, adding that the recipients represent a broad cross-section of the energy sector.
Recipients of the Energy Changemaker Award included Lu Jiahong, founder and vice chairman of Guangdong Lyric Robot Automation Co., Ltd.; Pimpa Limthongkul, director of the Energy Innovation Research Group at the National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC) and president of the Thailand Energy Storage Technology Association; Chenyu Gong, senior vice president, CFO and CHRO of Wuxi Lead Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd.; Susan Stone, CEO of Blue Current; Shuli Li, president of the R&D Center at Guangzhou Great Power Energy & Technology Co., Ltd.; Kitty Bu, vice president for Southeast Asia at the Global Energy Alliance for People & Planet; Na Huang, deputy general manager at Guangzhou Tinci Materials Technology Co., Ltd.; and Bindu Madhavi Polumahanti, director for policy and regulatory at the India Energy Storage Alliance.
Energy Rising Star Award recipients were Min Hou, vice president at REPT BATTERO; Yang Hui Ying, professor at the National University of Singapore; Jiayuan Xiang, vice president and chief engineer at Narada Power; Kriti Yadav, co-founder and CEO of Zenfinity Energy; Jing Lu, chief operating officer at Energy Depot Swiss GmbH; Catherine Sung, head of global strategy and France operations at ProLogium; Xiaoxi He, principal research associate at IDTechEx; and Yisha He, founder and chairman of Unisun Energy Group.
The Battery Show Asia said the awards were established to bring greater visibility to women contributing to the development of the energy sector, noting that many of their contributions often take place behind the scenes.
“The Women Leaders in Energy Awards were created to bring these achievements to the forefront—highlighting role models who are accelerating innovation and industry progress,” the organisation said.
According to the organisers, recognising these leaders also aims to encourage more women to pursue careers in energy and related fields while reinforcing the role of diverse perspectives in building a more sustainable energy future.
Hosted as part of The Battery Show Asia, the awards ceremony also provided a forum for female leaders to connect with global manufacturers, engineers, policymakers and other industry decision-makers.
The event itself focuses on battery technology, energy storage solutions and electric vehicle innovation, bringing together stakeholders from across the supply chain, including manufacturing, research and policy.
The Women Leaders in Energy Awards will now be held annually as part of The Battery Show Asia, with organisers saying the initiative will continue to recognise women contributing to the development of the global energy industry.
