Barett wins multiyear Canadian DND contract

Perth-based communications equipment manufacturer Barrett Communications has recenetly announced a new contract award from the Canadian National Defence Department (DND).

The multiyear contract follows on from an earlier contract awarded to Barrett in 2016 and will see the company deliver Very High Frequency (VHF) radio communications equipment to the DND.

Under the agreement, Barrett will supply the DND with the Barrett PRC-2080+ VHF radio systems, which are designed for multi-role military applications providing rugged reliable field proven communications.

Andrew Burt, Barrett Communications CEO, said the PRC-2080+ system is offered in hand portable, manpack, vehicle, base and rebroadcast system configurations, giving flexibility for its deployment in the field.

“We have many exciting developments and contracts coming from the America’s right now,” he continued.

“We are pleased to have secured this contract demonstrating the confidence the Canadian DND has in Barrett communications equipment.”

Founded in 1976, Barrett Communications designs, manufactures and markets HF and VHF radio equipment for specialised, autonomous, medium and long distance radio communications.

The company’s systems and equipment find numerous applications across a wide range of markets including defence, peacekeeping, civil & border security and power /water / aviation.
