Tindo Solar, the only certified Australian Made solar panel manufacturer, continues to play a role in advancing the nation’s clean energy transition through its commitment to innovation, quality, and local manufacturing.

Founded in 2011, the Adelaide-based company was established with a vision to develop solar panels tailored specifically to the unique conditions of the Australian climate.

Over the years, Tindo Solar has built a reputation for delivering high-performance solar panels while contributing to the local economy and sustainable manufacturing practices.

Tindo’s solar panels are manufactured at its South Australian facility, the Australian Centre for Excellence in Photovoltaics (ACEPV).

The site is described as a hub of cutting-edge technology and expertise, bringing together advanced robotics, new wiring technologies, and a team of over 60 employees.

The company said this focus on local capability and innovation allows it to produce solar panels that perform reliably in Australian conditions.

According to Richard Petterson, CEO of Tindo Solar, the company’s drive to lead the renewable manufacturing industry is guided by a long-term vision.

“We’ve always intended to lead the Australian renewable manufacturing industry by creating outstanding products, and demonstrating care and consideration for people and the planet,” Petterson said.

Tindo’s latest product line, the Walara Series, represents the company’s eighth generation of solar modules.

The panels have been independently tested and reviewed, with findings indicating that they outperform international alternatives under Australian environmental conditions.

Petterson noted that continuous improvement in manufacturing processes has been central to Tindo’s performance gains.

“When you visit the Tindo manufacturing facility you can see a range of considered differences that show our new way of thinking about production and quality. We’re driving Australian innovation – developing skills and innovation through Australian assets and IP,” he said.

The company’s Zero-Defect Manufacturing Process includes seven quality checkpoints for each panel, which Tindo says ensures consistent performance throughout the product’s life cycle.

Over more than a decade of operation, the company reports no recorded delamination failures in any of its solar PV modules.

Sustainability also plays a key role in Tindo’s operations. The company emphasises that its production at ACEPV incorporates renewable energy practices.

“We’re creating renewables with renewables,” Petterson said. It’s important to us that we make renewable energy solutions with environmentally conscious practices, creating a harmonious relationship between manufacturing and sustainability.”

Tindo’s commitment to local manufacturing has extended beyond production, enabling close collaboration with universities and research institutions and supporting domestic supply chains.

By producing locally, the company said it also gains confidence in product quality and lowers carbon emissions associated with overseas freight.

According to Australian Made Campaign Limited, supporting local manufacturing is critical for economic and environmental sustainability.
