Randwick residents now have greater access to recycling facilities with the opening of a new Return and Earn machine at Pacific Square in Maroubra.

Return and Earn said the site, located in the underground carpark of Pacific Square (level B1, section G) at 737 Anzac Parade, is open daily from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.

It is the 10th return point in the Randwick area, enabling locals to recycle eligible bottles, cans and cartons for a 10-cent refund.

“Randwick City Council residents are enthusiastic recyclers, having returned over 125.3 million eligible bottles, cans and cartons through local return points since the scheme began,” said James Dorney, CEO of TOMRA Cleanaway, the network operator for Return and Earn.

Return and Earn reported that more than 14 billion drink containers have been returned for recycling statewide since the scheme began, delivering over $1.4 billion in refunds to the community.

“Statewide, more than 14 billion drink containers have been returned for recycling through the network of over 660 return points across NSW since Return and Earn began, resulting in over $1.4 billion in container refunds back in people’s pockets,” Dorney said.

According to Return and Earn, the new machine offers users several refund options, including a printed voucher redeemable at Coles for cash or shopping credit, an e-voucher, or direct payment via bank or PayPal through the Return and Earn app.

Participants can also donate their refunds to one of almost 400 charities listed on the app, including current statewide donation partner Guide Dogs NSW/ACT.

Return and Earn said the scheme has become a significant fundraising channel for charities and community groups across New South Wales, with more than $82 million raised through donations and hosting fees since 2017.
