Hazer Group Ltd has been granted a key patent by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore covering its proprietary process for controlling the morphology of graphite, a development the company says will strengthen its intellectual property portfolio in Southeast Asia.
The patent (SG 10202010473Q) relates to a process for producing carbon nano-onions (CNOs) and builds on an earlier Singapore patent (SG 11201801483W) protecting the production of other advanced graphite morphologies such as carbon nanotubes, carbon micro-shells, and graphene through the Hazer Process.
Hazer said the approval expands its potential to supply high-value graphite products into advanced manufacturing and energy markets across Asia, particularly in Singapore, which it noted is a hub for liquefied natural gas, energy, petrochemicals, and advanced manufacturing.
“This Singapore patent expands Hazer’s IP portfolio in a key commercial hub in Southeast Asia,” Hazer CEO and managing director Glenn Corrie said.
“Singapore is a key region for clean energy innovation, and our proprietary technology provides an attractive pathway for producing low-cost, low-emission hydrogen alongside high-value graphite products while utilising existing natural gas infrastructure.”
The company said it is actively engaged in commercial and government discussions in the region, exploring opportunities to integrate its methane pyrolysis technology into industries including ammonia, petrochemicals, refining, steelmaking, and power generation.
“This allowance reinforces our leadership in methane pyrolysis and strengthens our competitive position as we advance our commercialisation efforts,” Corrie added.
Hazer said the Singapore approval further strengthens its global IP portfolio and aligns with its strategy to secure patent protections in multiple jurisdictions as part of its commercialisation roadmap.
