Global packaging supplier Detpak has opened a new manufacturing facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina, in a move the company says will strengthen its manufacturing capability and support customers in the North American market with locally produced paper-based packaging.
According to Detpak, the new facility is intended to improve supply chain reliability, reduce lead times and provide greater operational flexibility for major Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) customers by manufacturing products closer to the market.
Detpak supplies paper-based packaging to QSR, foodservice, Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) and retail customers, including global brands such as McDonald’s, KFC, Starbucks and Wendy’s across multiple international markets, including the United States. The company said it sells products in 45 countries and now owns manufacturing facilities in eight countries.
Detpak said the Spartanburg facility represents a significant step in its global expansion strategy and reflects its long-term commitment to the North American market, where it has supplied customers from its international manufacturing operations for more than 20 years.
“As we continue to grow our global footprint, opening our own manufacturing facility in the United States is a key milestone for our business,” Detpak CEO Sascha Detmold Cox said.
“It allows us to better support our customers with locally-manufactured products and reinforces our commitment to the US market where we have been supplying customers from our international plants for over 20 years.”
Detmold Cox said the company was focused on building long-term partnerships while continuing to provide customers with the same level of service, innovation and reliability delivered through its global operations.

The multi-million-dollar manufacturing facility spans 16,300 square metres and is currently undergoing equipment commissioning. Detpak said full production is scheduled to begin in August.
The company also said the site will initially employ more than 50 people from the local community.
