Ampcontrol claims top spot at 2024 Business Hunter Awards for Manufacturing Excellence

Ampcontrol, a leading manufacturer in the Hunter region, was named the winner of the prestigious President’s Award at the 2024 Business Hunter Awards, held at the Newcastle Exhibition Centre (NEX) on Friday, 13 September 2024. 

The awards recognised top businesses across the region, with manufacturing companies standing out among the night’s major winners.

The President’s Award, selected annually by the Business Hunter President, is awarded to an organisation or individual that has demonstrated exceptional value to the Hunter region’s business and community efforts.

“Ampcontrol is a Hunter success story which is making a global impact. Since its creation in 1968, Ampcontrol has developed several products and achieved significant business growth, welcoming other organisations into its fold. Ampcontrol demonstrates that true innovation comes through collaboration,” said Lauren Elyes, president of Business Hunter. 

She added, “Their achievements include purpose-built manufacturing facilities in Tomago, the creation of ResTech, a joint venture with the University of Newcastle, and developing products to help decarbonise industry. Ampcontrol is a great example of a business achieving commercial success, as well as social and environmental impact.”

Meanwhile, Stacey Sleeman, Ampcontrol’s Finance Director and Chief Financial Officer, accepted the award on behalf of the company.

“We are truly honoured to be recognised for our contribution to the region with this special award,” Sleeman said. 

We couldn’t do what we do without our incredible people who work tirelessly to transform the world through collaboration and Business Hunter for their dedication to connecting people in business so we can succeed as a region,” she added.  

Ampcontrol is known for championing the Hunter region’s potential to become Australia’s clean energy powerhouse. The company has made it a priority to foster innovation and collaboration in the local business community.

The Business Hunter Awards have been held annually for over 40 years, celebrating the entrepreneurial spirit and achievements of the Hunter region’s most inspiring businesses and individuals. 

The 2024 awards night showcased the contributions that regional businesses are making on both national and global stages.

The event took place on Friday, 13 September 2024, at the Newcastle Exhibition Centre (NEX), with notable attendees from across the business and manufacturing sectors.
