The Australian Automotive Aftermarket Association (AAAA), the peak body for Australia’s automotive manufacturing industry, has warmly welcomed the historic Australia-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).

This landmark trade deal, the first between Australia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is expected to boost trade by providing Australian businesses unprecedented access to the UAE market.

Under the CEPA, 99 per cent of Australian products, including manufactured goods, will benefit from reduced or eliminated tariffs when exported to the UAE.

This presents an opportunity for Australian automotive manufacturers, particularly those in the 4WD and high-performance vehicle upgrades and accessories sectors, to expand their reach into the UAE and the broader Middle East region.

“The UAE is an important market for Australia’s automotive sector, and this agreement provides our industry with the confidence to explore opportunities on a larger scale within the region,” said Stuart Charity, CEO of the AAAA.

“We commend the Federal Government, especially Senator the Hon Don Farrell, Minister for Trade and Tourism, for delivering this landmark deal.”

Currently, nearly 20 per cent of Australian automotive manufacturing exports are destined for the UAE. With the elimination of tariffs, this figure is expected to grow, strengthening the trade relationship between the two countries and opening new growth avenues for local manufacturers.

Nigel Bishop, AAAA’s 4WD Industry Council Convenor, underscored the positive impact of the agreement on Australia’s thriving 4WD aftermarket industry.

“We’re especially excited for our 4WD manufacturing members, whose products are highly regarded in the UAE for their durability and engineering excellence. The timing is perfect as we prepare to lead our regular trade mission to Automechanika Dubai.”

In line with its commitment to promoting Australian innovation, the AAAA will host an Australian Pavilion at Automechanika Dubai, one of the premier events for showcasing Australian-made products to international markets.

The AAAA delegation to the event will include prominent Australian companies such as Redarc, Powerdown Australia, Zeder Corporation, Pfitzner Performance Gearboxes, and Leisure-Tec Australia.

These businesses are set to showcase a wide range of products, further enhancing Australia’s reputation for excellence in automotive engineering and innovation.
