The Australian Made Campaign has welcomed the Australia-European Union Free Trade Agreement (A-EU FTA), describing it as a significant opportunity for Australian manufacturing.
The agreement, once fully implemented, is expected to reduce trade and investment barriers and provide duty-free access for 98 per cent of Australia’s exports to the European Union, as revealed in a news release.
Ben Lazzaro, Chief Executive of Australian Made, said the agreement offers a “practical opportunity to expand into Europe” for manufacturers and producers.
“While lower trade barriers do not guarantee immediate growth, they will help to create greater accessibility for Australian exporters looking to establish or strengthen their presence in Europe,” he added.
According to the Australian Government, all tariffs on advanced manufacturing and other industrial goods – including machinery, electrical goods, textiles, auto parts, metals such as aluminium and zinc, chemical and pharmaceutical products, plastics and rubber, wood products, toys, and optical goods – will be removed once the deal is in effect, except for steel. Implementation could take up to two years.
The organisation said the Australian Made logo, already a registered trademark in the European Union, provides legal protection for Australian brands abroad.
Lazzaro noted, “One of the great strengths of the logo is its ability to clearly identify Australian goods in export markets, making it a valuable marketing tool for Australian manufacturers. For 40 years, the iconic green and gold logo has aided Aussies in taking their goods abroad.”
New Kantar Research conducted in 2026 found strong overseas recognition of the logo, with 96 per cent of respondents holding a positive impression and 94 per cent believing products carrying the mark are genuinely from Australia.
Consumers also associated the logo with trustworthiness, environmental responsibility, and authenticity.
Australian Made encourages manufacturers and producers seeking to certify their products as genuinely Australian to apply through their website.
