BluGlass Limited has announced a AUD 1.3 million strategic collaboration with a Fortune 500 global data storage company, in a move aimed at supporting future photonics manufacturing research and development.

In a media release, BluGlass said the agreement will leverage its expertise in laser technology to assist the unnamed mass-capacity data storage leader in advancing its photonics capabilities.

BluGlass chief executive officer Jim Haden said the collaboration reflects growing demand for more efficient and compact technologies driven by developments in photonics manufacturing.

“Rapid advances in photonics are accelerating demand for more efficient, lower power, and increasingly compact technologies,” Haden said.

“We are pleased to collaborate with a global data storage pioneer on photonics research and development.”

Haden added that BluGlass’ technologies are increasingly being adopted by strategic partners to address complex technical challenges.

“BluGlass’ solutions are being selected by strategic partners and industry leaders to help solve complex innovation challenges,” he said.

The company stated that it does not consider the identity of the customer, beyond the description provided, to be material information that would affect the price or value of its securities.

It also said the announcement contains all relevant information required for assessing the contract’s impact and is not misleading by omission.

BluGlass said it has spent more than a decade developing semiconductor manufacturing technologies and devices, supplying the global gallium nitride (GaN) photonics sector.

Its work includes custom laser diode and LED development for industrial, defence, display, and scientific applications.
