Australian retail giant Coles Group is launching SECOS Group’s MyEcoBag compostable products in 770 retail stores across Australia.

Coles’ decision comes on the heels of a recent range review that involved SECOS’ compostable products and follows significant sales growth year on year for MyEcoBag in Woolworths stores.

As part of their agreement, SECOS will launch a new shelf-ready presentation pack of its popular 36L pack and a new 27L pack.

Both products are designed for kitchen food and garden waste diversion to green bins FOGO programs, delivering a fully compostable solution.

The retail company has added two MyEcoBag SKYs on a non-train basis, which will be distributed nationally. The ongoing supply of these products will be subject to meeting sales projections as part of the annual range review.

In an ASX announcement, SECOS said the significant growth in MyEcoBag sales in Woolsworth combined with the latest deal with Coles will take its product to over 2,000 retail stores in Australia.

“This store footprint plus our Australian-wide distribution network, which supplies a select range of independent stores, gives SECOS a significant retail reach,” the packaging manufacturer said.

SECOS noted that it will continue to look for opportunities to add more compostable bin liner SKUs and new products, such as the MyEcoPet dog waste bags, into its existing relationships with Coles, Woolworths and other stores.

The MyEco line’s increased sales in Australia will be supported by SECOS’ recent manufacturing capacity expansion in Malaysia, which began production in the March 2022 quarter.

“In Australia, the wider availability of SECOS’ compostable bags via Coles stores will give more households participating in approved council food organic waste programs the option to dispose of the bags and food waste in their green waste bin,” SECOS added.
