First Graphene Limited has announced a new agreement to supply its PureGRAPH product for the production of graphene-enhanced industrial safety boots in collaboration with Indonesian manufacturer PT Alasmas Berkat Utama.
Under the exclusive agreement, First Graphene will provide approximately 2.5 tonnes of PureGRAPH 10 masterbatch over a two-year period, as revealed in an ASX announcement.
The graphene additive will be integrated into KRUSHERS brand safety boots, which are designed for use in the Southeast Asian mining industry.
The boots will feature soles manufactured through an injection moulding process using thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) combined with PureGRAPH.
This process, developed in partnership with First Graphene’s compounding partner Duromer, aims to improve the durability and extend the lifespan of the polymer materials used in the footwear.
First Graphene said the graphene-enhanced safety boots will be distributed through various stockists as part of an initial commercial trial. Depending on results, the use of PureGRAPH could be expanded into additional product lines within the KRUSHERS range.
According to First Graphene, the partnership with PT Alasmas Berkat Utama supports its broader strategy of expanding into the global apparel and personal protective equipment markets, where there is growing demand for advanced material solutions.
“We’re excited to be working with PT Alasmas Berkat Utama and our long-standing partner Duromer Products to develop and supply high quality graphene enhanced safety boots,” said Michael Bell, Managing Director and CEO of First Graphene.
“This agreement reinforces growing industry awareness of the improvements our PureGRAPH can make to the durability of safety boots and other workwear apparel to help withstand the harshest of workplace and environmental conditions.”
PT Alasmas Berkat Utama, which has been producing personal protective equipment for 25 years, welcomed the partnership as an opportunity to improve the performance of its products.
“PT Alasmas Berkat Utama is very excited to be bringing this advanced polymer technology to our many customers in the Southeast Asia markets,” said Usman Wang, Factory Manager.
“We are committed to improving the performance and durability of our footwear through this innovative advancement and look forward to a long and strategic partnership with First Graphene.”
