The Victorian Government says manufacturing capability and investment attraction remain central to the state’s economic strategy, as global home technology company Vorwerk relocates its Australasian headquarters from Perth to Melbourne, in a move expected to support 55 jobs.
In a media release, the Victorian Government said the decision reflects confidence in Victoria’s manufacturing strength, supply chains and logistics infrastructure, with the new headquarters positioning the company closer to its largest customer base.
Vorwerk, known for manufacturing innovative home technology products, already operates logistics and distribution facilities in Moorabbin.
The relocation to Melbourne is intended to consolidate its operations and align leadership with core business activities in Australia and New Zealand.
Minister for Economic Growth and Jobs Danny Pearson said the move highlights Victoria’s ability to attract global investment and strengthen its industrial base.
“We’re attracting investment to our state – growing our economy and creating more skilled jobs for Victorians,” he said. He added that “Vorwerk choosing Victoria is a strong vote of confidence in our state as a global business hub.”
The government said it continues to work with international companies to support expansion and investment, noting that such activity contributes to innovation, productivity and employment outcomes across the state.
According to the release, Victoria has secured more than 1,200 international and domestic investment projects, generating over $25 billion in capital expenditure and creating more than 55,000 jobs.
The state’s Economic Growth Statement and the $150 million Victorian Investment Fund are aimed at accelerating further high-value investments.
Vorwerk General Manager for Australia and New Zealand Philipp Grundler said the relocation reflects the company’s growth in the region.
“As our operations across Australia and New Zealand have expanded, establishing our head office in Melbourne allows us to better align leadership and teams with the centre of our business,” he said.
