The New South Wales Government has welcomed a new partnership between the National Reconstruction Fund (NRF), the Bradfield Development Authority (BDA) and the Advanced Manufacturing Readiness Facility (AMRF), which aims to strengthen Australia’s advanced manufacturing sector and expand sovereign industrial capability.
The collaboration is expected to accelerate the growth of new and emerging manufacturing firms, enhance productivity, and generate skilled and well-paid jobs, the NSW Government said in a news release.
Bradfield will serve as a base for an innovation cluster, with the partnership building a referral pipeline between the AMRF and NRF to support businesses across the entire supply chain, from research and development through to design, production, logistics and distribution.
The NSW Government highlighted that the state contributes 30 per cent of the nation’s manufacturing output and has accounted for 37 per cent of proposals received by the NRF to date, positioning the facility as a driver of significant economic and industrial impact.
NSW Minister for Planning and Public Spaces Paul Scully said the partnership underscored Bradfield’s role as a centre for innovation.
“As Australia’s first new city in 100 years located on the doorstep of the Western Sydney International Airport, Bradfield presents a significant opportunity to establish a global hub of industry innovation in Western Sydney,” Scully said. “We’re focused on creating high value jobs and a place for advanced industries to thrive.”
NSW Minister for Industry and Trade Anoulack Chanthivong said the agreement demonstrated the Minns Government’s commitment to developing the state’s manufacturing base.
“This is a practical demonstration of the Minns Labor Government’s NSW Industry Policy, with investment in initiatives that will transform the future industrial landscape,” Chanthivong said.
“The AMRF will offer technical advice and assistance to ensure businesses better prepare themselves to attract private capital. The NSW Government is committed to developing the future focused manufacturing capability that will be critical in building a more secure, resilient and prosperous Australia.”
Federal Industry Minister Tim Ayres added that the partnership aligned national and state-level expertise to strengthen Australia’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem.
“With AMRF’s technical expertise being available to support NRF investment decision making, this partnership will deliver impact and drive a Future Made in Australia,” Ayres said.
“NRFC’s partnership with the AMRF will help to build out Australia’s industrial capability and create highly skilled jobs in the manufacturing industry.”
