Manufacturing union’s Glenn Thompson appointed to National Reconstruction Fund board

Glenn Thompson, the assistant national secretary of the Australian Manufacturing Union since 2003, has been appointed as a member of the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation Board. 

Thompson brings to the four-year role over 20 years of experience in manufacturing and industrial relations. 

He is also equipped with significant board experience as a member of the boards of AustralianSuper, UCover, and the Australian Construction Industry Trust. 

Furthermore, Thompson previously served the boards of Cbus, Coal Mining Industry (Long Service Leave Funding) Corporation, and the Construction Industry and Property Services Industry Skills Council. 

“Mr Thompson’s passion for job creation complements the existing expertise of the NRF Board, particularly in the areas of Australian manufacturing and industrial capability,” said Minister for Industry and Science Ed Husic

The Australian government’s $15 billion National Reconstruction Fund is the country’s biggest investment in boosting its sovereign manufacturing capacity and aims to bolster the country’s ability to capture value-adding oppportunities, establish secure jobs, and support the commercialisation of Australian innovation and technology. 

“A Board with the right mix of skills, and the ability to balance policy and financial objectives, is critical to the success of the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation,” Husic said.
