Nominations for the 2023 Premier’s NSW Export Awards, which recognise and honour Australian companies engaged in international business that have achieved sustainable growth through innovation and commitment, are now open.

The 2023 Awards, now in its 61st year, will celebrate companies in 13 national categories and four NSW categories.

The Awards are delivered in partnership with the Export Council of Australia (ECA), the government said in a news release.

Exporters, according to CEO of Investment NSW Katie Knight, contributed $120 billion to the state’s economy last year, up from $82 billion in 2021, and they continue to be crucial to NSW’s prosperity.

“Growing NSW’s exports will guarantee our future economic sustainability because businesses that export are more productive, create more jobs, and pay higher wages,” Knight said.

The NSW CEO also urges all qualifying exporters from New South Wales to apply.

“Everyone across the state benefits from the jobs and business opportunities generated by trade, so it’s important we celebrate our strengths in industry, our regions and our people,” she noted.

Dianne Tipping, chair of the ECA, stated that the Awards would highlight companies from a range of industries that are continuing to grow and support the NSW economy.

“NSW is truly blessed with world-class growers, producers, innovators and creators and the Premiers’ NSW Export Awards is an important program that recognises their collective brilliance,” Tipping said.

Through the Awards, Tipping emphasised the council will recognise exporters who have overcome global market challenges through hard work and resilience, while also inspiring others to grow their own businesses.

The 13 national category winners from NSW will advance automatically as national finalists to the Australian Export Awards.

Nominations end on 14 June 2023. On 6 October 2023, the NSW Awards ceremony will honour NSW exporters as well as the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties and commerce between Australia and Vietnam.
