Australian biotech company Samsara Eco and the European Outdoor Group (EOG) have announced the launch of the Nylon Materials Collective, a new collaboration aimed at expanding access to high-performance, virgin-identical recycled nylon for outdoor brands.
In a news release, Samsara Eco said the initiative is designed to bring together brands, supply chain partners and materials specialists to address barriers that often slow the uptake of recycled materials, while supporting a broader shift toward circularity in the textiles sector.
It noted that nylon remains a preferred material for many outdoor companies due to its durability and ability to withstand challenging environmental conditions.
Under the new Collective, participating brands will be able to access recycled materials through pooled demand and work more closely with supply chain partners, which Samsara Eco said may help reduce logistical hurdles and speed up integration.
“Outdoor brands inherently have a respect for the planet,” said Sarah Cook, Chief Commercial Officer at Samsara Eco.
“They understand the importance of establishing a circular, low-carbon future so we can all continue enjoying the beauty of the outdoors. We want to do everything we can to help more brands access our materials… The Nylon Materials Collective will make it easier for outdoor brands of any size to access and seamlessly integrate virgin-identical recycled materials into their future product lines.”
Samsara Eco noted that its enzymatic recycling technology, EosEco, produces virgin-identical recycled materials such as nylon 6,6, enabling brands to maintain product durability while preparing for upcoming EU regulations on circularity and recycled content.
The EOG, which represents around 150 brands, retailers, and organisations across the outdoor value chain, said the collaboration offers a practical pathway for companies to tap into Samsara Eco’s recycled nylon.
“At the European Outdoor Group, collaboration is at the heart of everything we do,” said Dr Katy Stevens, EOG Head of Sustainability and CSR.
“The Nylon Materials Collective represents an opportunity for our members to work together with innovators like Samsara Eco to unlock access to recycled nylon and accelerate the industry’s transition to circular materials.”
According to Samsara Eco, the partnership underscores its mission to advance circular materials as a mainstream option for manufacturers, aligning durability and performance with sustainability goals.
The Nylon Materials Collective is open to all EOG members and will officially launch ahead of EOG’s participation at ISPO Munich 2025, where Samsara Eco will showcase samples of its recycled nylon.
