Markforged Australian retailer Core Additive and training provider TAFE Queensland have teamed up for educational initiatives focused on the industrial usage of composites and additive manufacturing.

Both enterprises have agreed to a two-year cooperation to speed up the creation of training programs for the 3D printing, composites, and additive manufacturing industries.

Key training initiatives for Queensland and Australian firms will guarantee that they do not fall behind in the age of sophisticated and additive manufacturing, TAFE Queensland said in a news release.

Shawn O’Sullivan, business development manager of Emerging Industries at TAFE Queensland, stated that as the largest training organisation in the Sunshine State, TAFE Queensland has the assets necessary to meet the industry’s expanding training demand and is eager to assist in forming the next generation of skilled manufacturers.

“TAFE Queensland is constantly developing and adapting training to meet the current and future needs of the industries we service,” O’Sullivan stated.

He added, “Our teachers are experts with deep connections to their industries and they provide training across 60 campus locations from Cairns to Coolangatta and out to Mt Isa with industry-standard equipment and materials.”

The collaboration is just one of several that TAFE Queensland has with various industrial sectors to create the training required to safeguard regional industries for the future, O’Sullivan noted.

Meanwhile, James Staples, Core Additive CEO, backed O’Sullivan’s comments, claiming that TAFE Queensland was an obvious choice for creating top-notch training for Queenslanders wishing to work in the sector of additive manufacturing, which is quickly expanding.

“We are proud to partner with TAFE Queensland, who deliver quality training to industry members across the State. To be involved in training development as an industry representative and subject matter expert is a testament to the work we are doing at Core Additive,” Staples explained.

He added, “We are excited to see what this partnership can deliver across the next two years and know we have chosen a like-minded partner in TAFE Queensland that will work to ensure this industry is supported by necessary training in years to come.”
