The Rockliff Liberal Government has announced the expansion of ReadyTech’s Centre of Excellence in Tasmania, enabling the growth of a modern technology hub in Launceston.

With the expansion, ReadyTech will hire 90 local employees, including highly qualified individuals for positions in artificial intelligence, data analysis, and other ICT-related fields.

Guy Barnett, Minister for State Development, Construction and Housing, said the hub’s expansion will allow the University of Tasmania and TasTAFE to generate extra local graduate opportunities in the rapidly expanding ICT sector.

The minister also highlighted the government will assist ReadyTech’s Centre of Excellence expansion with up to $1.94 million for location establishment support, employee relocation and recruitment help and staff training and development incentives.

“This is a continuation of the strong relationship between the Tasmanian Government, local education and training providers and innovative businesses such as ReadyTech,” Minister Barnett noted.

Mr Barnett stated the assistance has assured Launceston remains the location of the expansion and will enable new, high-quality, and well-paying jobs as well as local investment in Tasmania’s burgeoning sectors.

“We look forward to seeing work being completed over the coming months, delivering jobs and showing that Tasmania is a leading location for long-term investment,’’ Minister Barnett concluded.

Meanwhile, James Diamond, Chief Executive of Education and Work Pathways at ReadyTech said investing in the Tasmanian team is a recognition of the quality and potential the state has in the technology sector.

“As a fast-growing tech company, ReadyTech has been playing a leading role in the development of a thriving local technology ecosystem across Australia, and we look forward to seeing more local technology talent from Tasmania contributing to the success of our customers as well as the future growth of Tasmania’s local tech industry,” Mr Diamond noted.
