The best and brightest welders and fabricators in Queensland and the Northern Territory have been recognised at the 2023 Queensland and Northern Territory Welding Excellence Awards.

The Weld Australia event, held at Inoodroopilly Gold Club in Brisbane last night, showcased the world-class work achieved by Queensland and NT’s local welders, fabricators, and industry educators over the past 12 months.

“This year’s winners feature businesses and individuals committed to the pursuit of innovative, sustainable solutions that minimise risk and maximise project outcomes, as well as initiatives designed to increase the breadth and depth of skilled labour within the welding sector,” said Geoff Crittenden, CEO of Weld Australia.

Munster Services, a company specialising in turnkey engineering, fabrication, and maintenance solutions across the infrastructure, water, utilities, food processing, and building sectors, took home the 2023 Company of the Year Award for Fabrication.

Meanwhile, advanced metal manufacturing company Bridgeman clinched the 2023 Indigenous Company of the Year Award.

Coregas, the only Australian industrial gases company that has been operating since 1974, was recognised as the 2023 Company of the Year in the Supplier category.

Mining giant BHP was also among the winners at the event, having secured the Training and Education Award for the Organisation category for its highly innovative in-house training program, dubbed the BHP FutureFit Academy.

ASX-200 company Monadelphous won the 2023 Health and Safety in Welding Award for its commitment to setting the highest standards for health and safety in the welding industry.

Queensland-based manufacturing company Rockpress won the Project of the Year Award for the Gunugia Drive Shared Pathway Bridge. Rockpress’ advanced manufacturing jig structures enabled the project to go on with drastically reduced distortion and minimised misalignment of members caused by possible variables in the section profiles.

“The 2023 Welding Excellence Awards shine a light on the remarkable talents of welders and fabricators right across Queensland and the Northern Territory. Weld Australia is thrilled to celebrate both businesses and individuals who are making waves in welding through their dedication to quality, safety and innovation,” Crittenden said.
